Martinus Miroto

Martinus Miroto, (born: 23 Feb. 1959) has been creating more than 40 contemporary works and performed in various countries in Europe, Asia, USA, Australia. He is a dancer, actor, choreographer, and dance instructor at the Indonesian Institute of Arts (ISI Jogjakarta). Founder: Miroto Dance Company in 1986, The Miroto Dance Foundation in 1998, Banjarmili Dance studio in 2001. Began to learned traditional dance when he was 5 years at his village, Turusan. Received formal dance education at: SMKI (High School of Performing arts 1976-80), Jakarta Institute of Arts (1980-81), Indonesia Institute of Arts (1981-1986), Folkwang School, Germany (1987). He received Master of Fine Arts in dance from University Of California Los Angeles (1995).
