Alexis Jestin Tutup Workshop Tari “LOOK WHAT THE WORLD DID TO US” dengan Presentasi Publik di Solo

Studio Plesungan menggelar presentasi publik LOOK WHAT THE WORLD DID TO US, sebuah workshop tari yang dikembangkan oleh penari dan koreografer Alexis Jestin sebagai proyek pedagogis. Presentasi ini menjadi penutup dari rangkaian workshop intensif selama lima hari yang diikuti oleh 13 peserta dan berlangsung di Kota Solo.
Workshop ini mengusung pendekatan belajar sambil bermain (learning through play), di mana Alexis Jestin membagikan berbagai latihan, permainan gerak, dan sesi diskusi untuk mendorong peserta memahami tubuh, pengalaman personal, serta relasinya dengan lingkungan sekitar. Gerak tari digunakan sebagai medium utama untuk refleksi diri dan eksplorasi hubungan antara individu dan kondisi sosial di sekitarnya.
Materi yang dipresentasikan merupakan hasil pengembangan metode yang telah Alexis Jestin praktikkan di berbagai negara, termasuk Vietnam, Kolombia, dan Kuba, serta diperkaya oleh pengalamannya sebagai penari dalam berbagai karya dan proses kreatif sebelumnya. Selain menampilkan hasil latihan, presentasi ini juga membuka ruang dialog melalui diskusi singkat bersama Alexis Jestin dan para peserta.
Kegiatan ini merupakan bagian dari program Artist-in-Residence Studio Plesungan yang berlangsung pada 11–25 Januari 2026.
Alexis Jestin Concludes “LOOK WHAT THE WORLD DID TO US” Dance Workshop with Public Presentation in Solo
Studio Plesungan presents a public showing of LOOK WHAT THE WORLD DID TO US, a dance workshop developed by dancer and choreographer Alexis Jestin as a pedagogical project. The presentation marks the conclusion of an intensive five-day workshop held in the city of Solo and involving 13 participants.
The workshop adopts a learning-through-play approach, through which Alexis Jestin shared a series of movement exercises, games, and discussions. Dance movement serves as the primary medium to encourage participants to explore their bodies, personal experiences, and their relationship to the surrounding social and environmental context.
The material presented is the result of an evolving methodology developed by Alexis Jestin across various international contexts, including Vietnam, Colombia, and Cuba, and is further informed by his experience as a dancer in numerous artistic works and creative processes. In addition to showcasing the workshop outcomes, the presentation will conclude with a short discussion involving Alexis Jestin and the participants.
This activity is part of Alexis Jestin’s participation in the Artist-in-Residence program at Studio Plesungan, taking place from 11–25 January 2026.
