Abdi Karya adalah seniman multidisiplin yang bekerja sejak 2004. Dia bekerja sebagai sutradara, performer, dan manajer seni. Dia menekuni seni performans sejak 2013 melalui Undisclosed Territory. Sejak itu, karya-karya teaternya yang banyak mengolah material sarung menemukan perluasan ruangnya melalui seni performans dan instalasi.
Dia telah bekerja di Teater Titik Dua UKM Seni UNM, Yayasan Batara Gowa, Rumata’ Art Space, Watermill Center dan kini turut mengelola program di Omah Kebon WhaniDpProject-Yogyakarta. Ia juga bekerja dengan sejumlah seniman lain seperti Robert Wilson, Theater na nOg & Imitating The Dog (UK), Teater Koma, Riri Riza, Melati Suryodarmo, Garin Nugroho, Mella Jaarsma, hingga Rianto.
Karya teater dan performansnya telah dipresentasikan di Watermill Center, Colombo International Theatre Festival, Jakarta Theater Platform, Indonesian Dance Festival, Cabaret Chairil, ARTJOG, Jakarta Biennale, Castlemaine State Festival dan terakhir mengkurasi proyek Yolngu-Macassan untuk comission work di Asia Pacific Triennale di QAGOMA.
Abdi Karya is a multidisciplinary artist working since 2004. He works as a director, performer and art manager. He has been pursuing performance art since 2013 through Undisclosed Territory. Since then, his theatrical works, which mostly use sarong as materials, have found expansion in their space through performance and installation arts.
He has worked at the Art UKM Point Theater of UNM, Batara Gowa Foundation, Rumata’ Art Space, Watermill Center and now co-manages the program at Omah Kebon WhaniDpProject-Yogyakarta.
