Elvira Santamaria Torres

Elvira Santamaría was born in 1967, Mexico. She has evolved through a personal search by means of many forms of action art through performance, public interventions, process installations. Her work currently focuses on intervention and process art. Since 1991 she has presented her performances at the Nippon International Art Performance Festival, Japan, Rencontre International d’Art Performance, Québec, TransEurope 2000, Hanover, National Review of Live Art, Glasgow, and the Blurrr Biennial of Performance Art, Israel, among others. She has been a member of Black Market International performance art “super-group” comprising artists from various countries and cultural backgrounds since 2000. Elvira Santamaría is interested in spontaneous creation and believes that the need for real human communication demands freedom and spontaneity, far away from seeking determinate answers. For her the Action artists are inventing new relationships among others and at the same time they are discovering and reinventing themselves.
