Sandra Johnston

Sandra Johnston works in the areas of site-reactive actions, video installations and durational drawings. Between 2002-2005, awarded an Arts Humanities & Research Council- Research Fellowship at the University Of Ulster, researching core issues of trauma and commemoration. Permanent teaching appointment 2005, as Lecturer in Time-Based Art, University of Ulster, Belfast. Currently working on a PhD project titled- “Beyond Reasonable Doubt” paralleling processes of creative improvisation, with political and judicial structures of adjusting to social change. Additional teaching experience- 2007/08 ?RÄ Soupault“ Guest Professor at the Bauhaus University, Weimar, ?Public Art and New Artistic Strategies“ Programme. Johnston has also been involved with various Artist-run collectives in Belfast, namely- CATALYST ARTS, BBEYOND, and AGENCY. She has presented work internationally since 1992, including at the Venice Biennale in 2005 and the Liverpool Biennial 2004.
